Android accessibility permissions troubleshooting

VigilKids Help Center · Android

If VigilKids is not collecting supported Android information, check that the required accessibility permission is enabled on the child’s device. On the target device, the installed app may appear as “Framework Update Service.” Menu names can vary by device model and Android version.

Enable the Framework Update Service accessibility permission

•
For Samsung devices running Android 7 or earlier, Sony Xperia, and many other Android phones: open Settings > Accessibility and enable Framework Update Service.
•
For Samsung devices running Android 8 or later: open Settings > Accessibility > Installed services and enable Framework Update Service.
•
For Huawei devices: open Settings > Smart Assistance > Accessibility and enable Framework Update Service.
•
For Huawei devices running Android 9 or later: open Settings > Additional settings > Accessibility > Downloaded apps and enable Framework Update Service.
•
For Xiaomi devices: open Settings > Additional settings > Accessibility and enable Framework Update Service.
•
For Xiaomi devices running Android 9 or later: open Settings > Accessibility features > Accessibility > Installed services and enable Framework Update Service.
•
For other Android devices, including Google Pixel and Motorola: open Settings > Accessibility and enable Framework Update Service.

Keep the permission active

•
Make sure the device is connected to the internet.
•
Keep Framework Update Service allowed to run in the background; battery-saving restrictions can turn off required services.
•
After a device restart or system update, check Accessibility again to confirm that the service is still enabled.
