keep seeing ads for umobix targeted at me (creepy). $50ish a month. anyone actually used it for monitoring a teenager's phone, is it better or worse than mspy/eyezy/the other 50 spy apps
Umobix worth it?
i've legit tried mspy, eyezy, umobix, and flexispy over the last 2 years (long story, single parent, kid in crisis). my honest take:
- umobix has the cleanest dashboard
- mspy has the best customer service
- eyezy is the cheapest but buggy
- flexispy has the most features but is overkill and more expensive
they all do roughly the same thing and they all require physical access + disabling security on the target phone. pick whichever has the sale this month honestly
umobix worked fine for me for about 4 months. then my son updated his phone os and it stopped working and their support took 2 weeks to fix. so. yeah
OP: 2 weeks of a 50$/mo subscription doing nothing, lovely
yep. and they don't prorate or refund for downtime. learned my lesson
all of these apps are in a gray area legally. read the terms carefully — most of them explicitly say they're only for monitoring minors you have custody of, or for use on your OWN devices with consent. if you use it on a spouse etc you could be committing a crime depending on your state
we use bark instead of these full spy apps. it doesn't let me read every message but it flags concerning content (bullying, predators, self-harm talk, sexual content) and tells me. feels way less invasive and my daughter knows about it. it costs like $14/mo
OP: bark sounds more like what i actually need. i don't want to read every text i just want to know if something's actually wrong
yeah that's exactly why we switched. was drowning in her group chats and it was 99% nothing. bark just pings me when there's something worth looking at
