I’m about to pull my hair out. Screen Time on my son’s iPhone keeps resetting itself, and he’s already found three different ways to bypass the "Down Time" limits using the clock settings and Safari exploits.

I need a best parental monitoring app for iphone that actually sticks. I’ve looked into Qustodio and Bark, but I’ve heard mixed things about how they handle iOS’s strict permissions. Does anyone have experience with VigilKids or Aura on a mixed-OS household? I want something that won’t slow down the phone but gives me a real "live" view of what’s happening, not just a broken summary at the end of the week. TIA!

I feel your pain. Apple’s native Screen Time is notorious for the "Time Zone exploit" where kids just change the clock to bypass downtime. It’s been a bug for years and Apple still hasn't hard-coded a fix that works 100%.

The Verdict: If you want something that actually sticks, you need an app that uses an MDM (Mobile Device Management) profile. Apps like Qustodio or Norton Family do this. Because they install a management profile at the system level, it’s much harder for a kid to "Safari exploit" their way out of it.

Bark is great for social media alerts (it scans for bullying/self-harm keywords), but it’s not the best for hard-blocking. If your kid is tech-savvy, go with something that locks the actual device settings.

We’re an iPhone/Android split house and Screen Time was a nightmare. I switched to VigilKids about 4 months ago and it’s the only thing that hasn't "reset" itself yet.
