Lost my iPhone but Find My was DISABLED. Am I screwed?

Title basically says it all. I lost my iPhone 15 at a concert last night and realized to my horror that I never turned on 'Find My' after a recent factory reset.

I’ve tried logging into iCloud but obviously, the device doesn't show up. I also tried calling it but it goes straight to voicemail (battery probably died or someone turned it off).

Is there ANY other way to track it? Can Google Maps Timeline help if I had the app installed? Or can the carrier track the IMEI/serial number? I really can't afford a new phone right now, so any "out of the box" ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if "Find My" was actually toggled OFF, Apple’s official tracking is useless. However, you aren't 100% out of luck yet. Check these:

Google Maps Timeline: If you have the Google app installed and "Location History" was on, go to google.com/maps/timeline. It won't give you a live ping, but it will show you exactly where that phone was up until it died or lost signal. I once found my phone under a stadium seat this way.

Photos Backup: Check Google Photos or Dropbox. If the person who found it took a photo, and "Auto-upload" was on, you might see a new photo with geotags. Long shot, but it happens.

IMEI & Carrier: Call your carrier and give them the IMEI. They won't give you the location (privacy laws), but they can blacklist it so it’s a brick for whoever has it.

Whatever you do, DO NOT click any links in texts saying "Your iPhone has been found." Since you're posting this, scammers might try to phish your iCloud password. Be careful.

Honestly? You're likely screwed for tracking it. Without "Find My," the hardware-level encryption makes it nearly impossible for anyone—including the police—to "ping" it for you unless it's a literal kidnapping case.

Your best bet now isn't tracking, it's Damage Control:

Change your Apple ID password immediately.

Remove your Apple Pay cards via another device.

Call your carrier to suspend the SIM so they don't rack up charges or use your 2FA codes.

Treat the phone as gone. If someone honest finds it, they'll wait for you to call it or take it to a police station. Check your local "Lost and Found" Facebook groups.

iFixit_Expert99: Did you have any other apps with location permissions?

Life360 / VigilKids: If you were using a family tracking app (like you mentioned in your other post), check there! They use their own GPS protocols independent of Apple's "Find My."

Snapchat: If "Ghost Mode" was off, your friends might still see your last location on the Snap Map.

IMEI Tracking Sites: Stay away from them. 99% are scams that just want your money or info.

Next time, first thing you do when you get a phone: Find My ON + Send Last Location ON. Hope you find it, man.
