weird ask — my android phone's built-in recorder puts a giant red dot on screen when recording and it messes up what i'm trying to document. i'm trying to capture proof of harassment in some apps that auto-delete. is there a screen recorder that doesn't have the notification/icon visible while recording?
Need a screen recorder that doesn't show an icon
AZ screen recorder used to be the go-to for this. you can hide the floating bubble and the notification, it just records in the background. works on most android versions
AZ is fine but if you're documenting harassment for legal purposes you want the timestamp and a clean recording. also make sure you back up immediately to cloud because if your phone gets taken you want the evidence elsewhere
OP: yeah it's for a harassment case with my ex. he sends stuff on apps with disappearing messages so i need to catch it. appreciate the backup tip
i'd also recommend emailing copies of the recordings to yourself or uploading to a cloud you control immediately after capturing. chain of custody matters if this goes to court. timestamped, backed up, don't edit.
also depending on your state, recording certain things without consent can be its own issue. but screen recording stuff sent TO YOU is fine pretty much everywhere
have you tried another phone or a camera pointed at the screen? old school but it works and can't be detected at all. a cheap used phone or even a webcam on a tripod
OP: that's actually not a bad idea. i have an old phone in a drawer
sending strength. document EVERYTHING. screenshots, recordings, dates, witnesses. i didn't keep enough records of mine and regretted it when it went to court. you're doing the right thing
xrecorder is another one that works well with no overlay. just make sure whatever you pick you test it first on something casual before using it for real evidence
