Are these real or just scams to get my info? I don't want to get my account banned or download a virus. Has anyone actually gotten one of these to work in 2026?
They are 99% scams.
Most of those "viewer" sites are designed to lead you through a "human verification" loop (downloading apps, taking surveys) that never actually ends. They make money off your clicks and data. Instagram’s API is incredibly tight in 2026—there is no "backdoor" that lets a random website bypass their encryption. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
If you're seeing people on Reddit saying "Goonview worked for me!", be careful. A lot of those are bot accounts or paid shills.
The only way those tools "work" is if the account was public in the past. Some sites (like Archive.org or specialized scrapers) might have cached old photos from when the profile was public. But for current, live private posts? Zero chance.
