Trying to show my mom pictures from my trip on her tv but she doesn't have a chromecast or a smart tv. is there any way to mirror my android screen to a regular tv, and/or project it without buying a new device? phone is a galaxy s22, tv is like a 10yr old samsung with hdmi ports

usb-c to hdmi adapter. $15 on amazon. plug one end into your phone, other end into the tv hdmi port. done

samsung s22 supports DisplayPort over usb-c so it works natively. no app needed

OP: oh wait really? that's it?

yep. has to be a usb-c to hdmi adapter that supports alt mode / displayport. anker makes a good cheap one. plug and play

if the tv is really old you can also get a cheap fire tv stick for like $25 on sale and cast to that. works with most android phones. might actually be more useful for your mom long term than just a one-time mirroring session

roku express is $30 and mom-friendly. gives her streaming options for later plus you can screen mirror from android to it

or. just airdrop the photos to her email/whatsapp/whatever and she can look at them on her phone while you narrate. grandmas aren't always trying to watch a keynote presentation

OP: lmao fair. i think she actually would enjoy seeing them big tho, i took a lot of landscape shots. gonna try the hdmi adapter

samsung also has "smart view" built in but your mom's tv has to be smart for that. since it's not, adapter is your best bet

when you use the hdmi adapter make sure to set your phone to not auto-lock or the screen will black out mid slideshow. happened to me at my dad's 70th, awkward
